My name is Vanessa but you can call me Ness (she/her), I’m a first-year trainee counselling psychologist studying at the University of South Wales. I hold a level 2 and 3 certificate in counselling skills.
I moved to Wales in 2020; just before the pandemic began. Therefore, I can understand the stress of being separated from loved ones and how lonely this can be, particularly when they’re not close by. My background is Portuguese but born and raised in London, so I can understand and speak Portuguese on an intermediate level.
I have more than six years' experience helping people in a diverse range of settings; residential, community and hospitals with children, young people, adults and the elderly, all experiencing a wide range of difficulties.
To support you I use humanistic, person-centred principles to help you feel understood and supported in an honest, non-judgemental and open space where you feel comfortable in to be able to share your experiences. We can work together to help you understand yourself and your emotions at your own pace.
